Hello everyone. This is Tarou Kageyama, producer of FFTCG. Time flies, and it’s already the final Card of the Week for Hidden Trials. Please stick around until the end! Our card this week is Terra [23-011L], a Fire Legend who originally appeared in FINAL FANTASY VI.

Terra [23-011L] is a Fire Forward with 5 CP and 5000 power. It’s clearly lacking in power for its cost, but because of that it makes you excited to see what kind of abilities it has. Terra [23-011L] has two abilities – an auto ability with an EX Burst that triggers when Terra enters the field or when she is put into the Break Zone from the field, and a field ability that affects the cards in your Break Zone.

Let’s take a look at them in order. Firstly, the auto ability reads, “When Terra enters the field or is put from the field into the Break Zone, choose 1 Summon in your Break Zone. Add it to your hand. During this turn, the cost required to cast your next Summon is reduced by 2 (it cannot become 0).” When Terra [23-011L] enters the field, you gain one card in your hand so the cost required to play it is essentially reduced by 2 and becomes 3. If it gets taken out without getting removed from the game and goes to the Break Zone, you would acquire another card in your hand, which would effectively reduce your cost by 2. On top of that, you can also reduce the cost required to cast your next Summon by 2, so you’ll feel a tremendous amount of cost efficiency with Terra [23-011L] alone. This goes without saying, but while the cost efficiency can pose a threat, the fact that you can reuse a Summon that has already been used repeatedly is surely going to be troublesome for your opponent. Summons like Amaterasu [12-002H] and Cúchulainn, the Impure [9-114C] can make a significant impact on your opponent’s choices when they know that you have them in your hand, so even just retrieving these cards from the Break Zone should put a lot of pressure on your opponent.

Even if you use this ability as an EX Burst effect, the cost to cast your next Summon will still be reduced, so that’s one thing you should keep in mind. For example, if you only have one card in your hand and all of your Backups are dull, you’re in a sticky situation where there is almost nothing you can do, but if Terra [23-011L]’s EX Burst activates, you’ll be able to cast a Summon with 4 CP or lower, granting a chance to make a major turnaround.

Terra [23-011L]’s other ability has more of a supportive function for the aforementioned auto ability. It’s a field ability that reads, “All Summons in your Break Zone cannot be removed from the game by your opponent’s Summons or abilities.” This ability allows you to choose a Summon from your Break Zone and add it to your hand safely once Terra [23-011L] enters the field, and you can do so without worrying about cards like Mist Dragon [9-068H] removing your Summon from the game. However, when Terra [23-011L] is put into the Break Zone, your Summons will be susceptible to auto abilities that can remove cards so please beware. Additionally, as long as Terra [23-011L] is on the field, your Summons will not be removed from the Break Zone so, although limited, it can also help cards like Seifer [22-079L] or Edea [22-075H], who have abilities that are based on the number of cards in your Break Zone.

As I’ve mentioned in the introduction, this will be our last Card of the Week from Hidden Trials. I’ll see you next for Hidden Legends, scheduled to be released in November. Have a wonderful FFTCG life!
