Hello everyone! This is Rio from the Hobby Japan FFTCG Development Team.
It is my turn again to introduce a new card from the upcoming booster pack Dreamlike Oceans, scheduled for release on 27 March. I hope you enjoy this week’s feature! The card I am showcasing today is Snow [28-031L] from LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII. This illustration is a brand new piece created by Toshitaka Matsuda. Snow [28-031L] looks incredibly cool, so I hope you will have the chance to pick up the Full Art version and enjoy its commanding presence in your collection.

Card Abilities
Let’s take a look at the card text. Snow [28-031L] is a cost 5, 8000 power Ice Forward with one auto ability. Snow [28-031L]’s auto ability triggers both when he enters the field and when he attacks. It is fairly common for a card to trigger only on entry or only on attack, so getting both feels like a very good deal! On top of that, this auto ability lets you choose up to two effects from the following three options:
- Choose 1 character. Dull it and Freeze it.
- Reveal the top 2 cards of your deck. Add 1 Category XIII card among them to your hand and put the rest into the Break Zone.
- The next Category XIII card you cast this turn costs 2 less to cast.
All of these options look strong and easy to use!
Being able to choose two effects is already fantastic, and all three choices are useful. Whether you want to dull and Freeze a character, increase your hand, or reduce the cost of your next play, Snow gives you flexible value in any situation.
It feels like a card packed full of everything you want! It makes you want to try it out right away and experiment with different combinations.
Cards That Work Well With Snow [28-031L]
Now that we have checked Snow [28-031L]’s card text, let’s look at some cards that work well with him. Snow’s ability is easy to use and versatile, so anything under Category XIII is likely to pair nicely with him! Category XIII cards that cost 2 or less stand out even more, since Snow [28-031L]’s third auto ability option allows you to cast those cards for free. This opens up a wide range of possible synergies.
Among those cheap Category XIII cards, the two I especially want to highlight are Serah [1-045R] and Noel [13-124C]. Using Serah [1-045R] lets you protect your Snow cards from your opponent’s abilities. Meanwhile, Noel [13-124C] can give Snow [28-031L] Haste, allowing Snow [28-031L] to use his auto ability a second time immediately after entering the field. That can lead to some very powerful turns.
I hope you enjoyed this look at Snow [28-031L]. I would be happy if you can already imagine how he will shine in your decks.
Of course, there are many other cards that work well with him, so try mixing and matching different options and build your own original deck.
Next week, Mr Kageyama will be introducing a new Ninja card. Please look forward to seeing what appears!
