Memories of Life - Card of the Week - [30-100L] Refia

Depicting [30-100L] Refia

Hello, everyone! I’m Taro Kageyama, producer of FFTCG.

We’ve finally reached the fifth and final week of Card of the Week, our series introducing cards from the new booster set, Memories of Life, scheduled for release on November 13th. Our final featured card is the set’s second Water Legend: [30-100L] Refia from FINAL FANTASY III, featuring brand-new artwork by Yukihiro Kajimoto!

When it comes to Refia, [19-102L] Refia sees plenty of play, but this new [30-100L] Refia looks set to bring a distinctive new twist to your deck.

Ability Explanation

[30-100L] Refia is a Water Forward with a cost of 4 and 8000 power. She also has two useful auto-abilities, both closely tied to Multi-Element Forwards.

The first ability is simple yet powerful. When Refia enters the field, you can play a Multi-Element Forward of cost 4 or less onto the field. Playing Multi-Element Forwards normally requires paying CP of multiple Elements, but with this ability, that’s not a concern. Frankly, this ability offers incredible value: simply playing a 4-cost Forward with 8000 power lets you play an additional Forward of cost 4 or less from your hand. What’s more, many Multi-Element Forwards are designed to be slightly stronger than ordinary Forwards. They don’t even need to share [30-100L] Refia’s Water Element. You can also play Forwards such as [12-112L] Selh’teus, [18-111L] Basch, and [19-108L] Zidane.

The second ability subjects your opponent to a formidable effect every turn, provided its condition is met. At the beginning of your Attack Phase, choose 1 Forward your opponent controls. If you control 3 or more Multi-Element Forwards, you can put the chosen Forward on the bottom of its owner’s deck. Although the condition is somewhat demanding, the effect is tremendous.

By now, you’re probably thinking, “Won’t I need a new deck packed with multi-element cards?” However, the Warrior decks commonly seen in play already include Multi-Element Forwards such as [13-125R] Yuzuki, [18-130L] Firion, and [18-107L] Akstar, so [30-100L] Refia may fit right in.

Alternatively, why not take this opportunity to build a deck from scratch around [30-100L] Refia? That could be a lot of fun. Memories of Life will introduce more Multi-Element cards, so be sure to give it a try.

That’s all for our “Card of the Week” series for Memories of Life. Have a wonderful time playing FFTCG!
