Hello, everyone! It's time for “Card of the Week,” your sneak peek ahead of the new booster pack release. In this series, we’ll be spotlighting cards from "Dreamlike Oceans" releasing on March 27, and our commemorative first card is Yuna [28-111H] who’s also featured in the package art. Please take a look!

It’s a stunning illustration of her standing gracefully amid ephemeral light, also included as a Special card. Its incredibly beautiful design features full art that’s foil stamped with Tetsuya Nomura’s signature, so we hope you’ll admire it up close if you ever get the chance.
Now, it’s a fact of life that beautiful cards often possess powerful abilities, so let’s move on to examine her mechanics as an "FFTCG" card.
Yuna [28-111H] is a Water element Forward with 8000 power and 4 CP, making her a mid-sized Forward both in terms of cost and power. Yuna [28-111H] possesses a total of two abilities, an Auto Ability and an Action Ability, so I’ll break her down by focusing on each.
First, her Auto Ability reads, “When a Forward of an Element other than Water enters your field, choose 1 Forward the opponent controls. It loses 4000 power until the end of the turn." It’s easy to misread this at a glance, but this card activates when a non-Water element Forward enters the field. This means she’ll shine brighter in decks with at least two or more elements over a mono Water deck. That said, it’s not impossible to still utilize her in mono Water decks by using Light or Dark elements, too.
The effect of this ability is immense. Because you can reduce the power of your opponent’s Forwards by 4000 simply by having applicable Forwards enter the field, a set up that enables you to play Forwards in rapid succession will leave your opponent gasping for air as they hold onto their line of defense. However, please note that this effect will not be triggered by multi-element Forwards that include Water.
Next, I’ll explain her Action Ability. It reads, “Dull active Yuna and 1 active Category X Character: Search for 1 Job Gullwings Forward and play it onto the field. You can only use this ability during your turn and only once per turn."
There are three powerful aspects to this ability.
1: Because there’s no “Dull” icon, this ability can be used from the turn that Yuna [28-111H] enters the field.
2: Backups or Monsters could also activate this ability because Characters are listed as the cost, making it practical and convenient.
3: The searched Forward directly enters the field.
To summarize, you could say this ability is easy to activate and grants a powerful effect. Furthermore, it’s also highly synergistic with her earlier Auto Ability because Rikku and Paine—the linchpins of Job Gullwings decks—are often Wind element, so playing them through this Action Ability will trigger her Auto Ability, too. Yuna [28-111H] therefore holds the synergy of deploying the Forwards you need in a cost-effective manner, while simultaneously weakening your opponent's Forwards.
To add further, she also enables you to include cards in your deck with elements that normally wouldn’t match. While limited in number, Job Gullwings include Fire, Earth, and Lightning element cards, enabling a wide range of plays whether you’re disrupting your opponent's front line with Paine [18-011R] or Paine [25-080H], or applying pressure on your opponent while deploying backups with Rikku [25-067H]. We expect this card’s value to grow even further if more Job Gullwings Forwards are released in the future.
What do you think? Job Gullwings decks have always been around, but are they on the verge of ascending to new heights? I encourage everyone to take on that challenge. Next week, our staff member Rio—now a familiar contributor for "Card of the Week"—will spotlight a fiery man who fights with the power of ice. Stay tuned!
