We're excited to share with you all the first details for FFTCG 2024 Organized Play in North America! Keep in mind much of what is presented here is preliminary information, and this page will be updated as more details (such as dates, ticket links, and prizing) are confirmed, so please keep an eye here and on social media where we will share updates and news!
This year we have done our best to align tournament and prizing structure between the North American and European competitions so players will have opportunities to compete for the same prizes across the season. Due to the number countries within the region, there are still some differences between the North American and European events. We are hoping North American players will look forward to what we have planned for this year!
2024 Competitive Season Events for North American Region:
- Materia Cup
- Local Qualifer
- Last Chance Qualifier
- North American Championship
North American Materia Cups
Materia Cup events will tentatively run from Mid-April throughout August.
There will be eight (8) Materia Cups hosted, consisting of a two-day Standard Constructed format.
The top 4 players of a Materia Cup will qualify for the North American Championship.
Any event qualifications at Materia Cups will pass down to the next highest ranked players.

North American Local Qualifiers
Local Qualifiers events will tentatively run from Late April throughout August.
There will be sixty (60) Local Qualifiers hosted, consisting of a one-day Standard Constructed format.
The top 1 player at a Local Qualifiers tournament will qualify for North American Championship. While we have adjusted this from last year’s qualification of 2 winners per store, we are increasing the number of Local Qualifiers this year to give our players more chances to play and compete with one another.
UPDATE [4/15/2024] Please Note: There must be a minimum of 8 players attending a Local Qualifier, or the results will not be accepted.
Any event qualifications at Local Qualifiers will be passed down to the next highest ranked players.

Last Chance Qualifier
September 20th at Embassy Suites in El Segundo, California.
Updated (8/23/2024): This will be a one-day event utilizing only Bo1 Swiss Rounds based on the number of players in attendance. Please use the official deck list found here. All deck lists must be typed and turned in upon on-site check in. If you need assistance printing your deck list, please email it to us (FFTCG@us.square-enix.com) by 9/19/2024 at 6pm PST, and we will print it for you.
Updated (8/27/2024): Player registration will begin at 9:15am outside of the Granada Ballroom at the Embassy Suites LAX South Hotel. Doors will close 1 hour later at 10:15am. Currently there is a lunch break planned for after round 3.
The cost to participate in the LCQ will be $20, payment will be collected on site. Entry fee will include 4 booster packs, 1 random Organized Play Kit, and 1 Mist Dragon [PR-167/9-068H].
- Additional prizes will include Rufus [PR-168/20-040L], Y’shtola [PR-169/19-124L], Terra [PR-170/15-037L], Local Qualifier playmat, and Road to Worlds Card Sleeves.
The signups will be on a first come first serve basis and the form will open on 8/27/2024 at 11am PST and will close on 9/18/2024 at 11am PST, the form will close sooner if the cap is reached before this date. We will be capping the LCQ at 64 players.

North American Championship
September 21st and 22nd at Embassy Suites in El Segundo, California.
Updated 9/13/2024: This event will require players to have two decks made, where they cannot share cards between their two decks. On day 1, 100 players will be participating in seven (7) best of 3 Swiss Rounds, with the top 16 players moving on to day 2.
There will be 60 players from Local Qualifiers, 32 Players from Materia Cups, and 4 players from the Last Chance Qualifier on the first day of the event.
In line with our announcement from last year, we will continue to extend an invitation to the winner of the North American Championship to the following year’s event. This year, we’d like to additionally invite our top three North American players from the 2023 World Championship.
As such, this year’s invited players are:
2023 North American Champion - Ryan Chen
Top 3 NA Players from 2023 World Championship – Hunter Nance, Will Coghill, Mike Powell
These players may play throughout the Competitive Season; however, their North American Championship qualification will pass down at Materia Cups and Local Qualifiers.
World Championship
The FFTCG World Championship will be held on December 7th and 8th in Tokyo, Japan this year! We will announce more information at a later date.

We also want to share that on top of the typical “Event" Promo cards, we are finalizing details on Prize Cards for these events, with more information to come as soon as we're able to share it. Additionally, we will plan for Winter Cup events following National/Continental Championships for both North America and Europe that players from any region may enter.
