Thank you for your continuing support of the FINAL FANTASY TRADING CARD GAME. This is FFTCG Producer, Tarou Kageyama.
With the upcoming release of the Gunslinger in the Abyss Booster Pack on 8 August, the restrictions on usage of cards in the Standard format will be updated. Two cards will be banned, one card will be restricted, and one card will have its ban lifted. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, and thank you for your understanding.
Details of the cards in question are given below, along with the rationale behind the restrictions.
There are no newly banned or restricted cards for L6 Constructed or Title formats.
Card usage restrictions will be enforced for the L3 Constructed format on the same date. (To be announced soon)
In addition, the newly banned/restricted cards can be used as before in all play formats other than Standard, and in Limited play.
Standard Restrictions
The below cards are hereby banned from Standard play. Having even one of these cards in a deck is completely forbidden.
• [16-051L] Cecil
• [20-125R] Rosa
The below card is hereby restricted in Standard play. Players are permitted to have only one of this card in a deck.
• [25-104L] Yuna
The below card is hereby removed from the list of cards banned from Standard play. Players are permitted to have up to three of this card in a deck.
• [4-085H] Dadaluma
Date of Enforcement
8 August 2025
Reason for Restrictions
[16-051L] Cecil
This card features both an ability that protects other Forwards and an ability that allows players to play characters from their hand, so as the card pool grew larger, the card's relative strength has increased by an unreasonable amount. It has therefore been determined that this card should be banned.
[20-125R] Rosa
When used together with [20-075L] Cecil, the ability to search for other Cecil cards from an early turn without any elemental restrictions is excessively powerful in the current play environment, so it has been decided that this card should be banned.
[25-104L] Yuna
This is a key card in FF IV/Yuna decks, which are wildly popular in the current play environment. It has been determined that when this card's ability is used, it incapacitates the opponent for a long time, and therefore has the potential to undermine the proper play experience. Having compared this card with the above two banned cards, we have decided to restrict the [25-104L] Yuna card.
[4-085H] Dadaluma
As the card pool expands, we regularly review restrictions placed on existing cards, and we have determined that there is no issue with lifting the ban on this card.
I once again sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by these changes.
We hope that you will continue to enjoy the FINAL FANTASY TRADING CARD GAME.
