Memories of Life - Card of the Week - [30-080L] Shantotto

Hello, everyone!

Welcome back to another installment of Card of the Week, where we reveal a brand-new card from an upcoming booster pack each week.
Today, we're excited to continue our preview season with a new card from Memory of Life, the latest FFTCG booster pack scheduled for release on November 13.

Now let's jump right in and take a look at our featured card: [30-080L] Shantotto!

In addition to the standard version, this card will also be available as a Special Card, so we'd like to show off that stunning design as well.

The Special Card version features a luxurious foil-stamped autograph design that truly stands out. If you're lucky enough to pull one, it's definitely a card worth showing off!

Speaking of Shantotto, we previously featured her in a Blissful Eternity Card of the Week article. This time, however, she returns as a Lightning Forward. While she shares her name with the Ice-element [29-027L] Shantotto, this new version offers a completely different kind of power. Let's take a closer look.

[30-080L] Shantotto is an 8 CP, 9000 power Lightning Forward with a cost-reduction Field Ability, an Auto Ability that triggers when she enters the field, and another Auto Ability that activates when she attacks.
All three abilities strongly reward players for committing to the Lightning element.

Her Field Ability reduces the cost required to cast her by 1 for each Lightning Character you control. The key detail here is that it counts all Lightning Characters, not just Forwards. Backups and Monsters contribute to the reduction as well. Even better, the ability does not include the common "cost cannot become 0" restriction. This means that if you control eight or more Lightning Characters, you can cast Shantotto for 0 CP!

Next, let's look at her Auto Ability that triggers when she enters the field. This ability deals 1,000 damage to all Forwards other than Shantotto for each Lightning Character you control. One important thing to remember is that this effect damages both your opponent's Forwards and your own. Since Shantotto herself is exempt from the effect, the ability can serve as a devastating board wipe. Timing her arrival correctly and managing your Lightning Character count will be crucial to getting the maximum advantage from this effect.

Finally, Shantotto's attack-triggered Auto Ability lets you reveal the top card of your deck. If it's a Lightning card, you add it to your hand. In a dedicated mono-Lightning deck, excluding Light and Dark cards, this effectively gives you a 100% chance of drawing an additional card every time she attacks.

As you can see, this version of Shantotto is designed to fully embrace the strengths of the Lightning element. Whether you're looking to overwhelm your opponent with efficient cost reduction, clear the board with massive damage, or generate steady card advantage, she offers plenty of powerful possibilities. We can't wait to see the different ways players build around her.

Be sure to give her a try when Memory of Life arrives this November!

And don't miss next week's Card of the Week, where Rio will be introducing a truly terrifying Weapon card. Stay tuned!
