From Nightmares Card of the Week - Yuna

Yuna from FINAL FANTASY X-2

Hey everyone, Richelle here! I’m happy to be back for From Nightmares Card of the Week articles. This will be my first of two articles, and I hope you’ll enjoy both of them. For the first one, I’ll be sharing the Buy-a-Box Promo card, Yuna [19-118L]!

Let’s take a look.

Yuna 19-118L Yuna 19-118L Full Art

Yuna [19-118L] is a 3CP Wind/Water Multi-Element Forward with 8000 Power, Category X, and Job Gullwings. She has an auto ability that reads: “When Yuna enters the field, choose 1 Forward opponent controls. If its cost is equal to or less than the number of Category X Characters you control, put it at the top or bottom of its owner’s deck.” Additionally, Yuna has an auto ability at Damage 5 that reads “When Yuna enters the field, you may search for 1 Category X Character of cost 6 or less and play it onto the field.”

A Wind/Water Multi-Element Yuna card based on her Gunner outfit from FINAL FANTASY X-2! It’s so many things I love in one package. She’s very heavily based around Category X Characters, so Category X Characters who directly reference Yuna, like Tidus [1-213S], Tidus [16-139S], and Lulu [16-135S], are very well suited to play alongside her. Rounding out with some Backup options, Wakka [18-102C], Shinra [6-048C], and Brother [1-197S] can be great options to increase your count of Category X Characters, find your key Category X cards, and boost Yuna’s removal ability.

I’d also want to mention Yuna’s Job “Gullwings.” Opus VI featured Rikku [6-062R] and Paine [6-053R] who can prevent your opponent from choosing your Gullwings Forwards with their Summons and Abilities. If you go this route, it may be worth also including Yuna [6-124L], to complete the Gullwings package. Yuna [19-118L] is a card that’s better in mid to late game, while Yuna [6-124L]’s auto ability is more suited for earlier in the game. Perhaps that’s something more suited for Title Format if it’s played in your area, or perhaps a side event at a future Organized Play event.

Lastly, I of course need to bring up some less obvious cards to play with Yuna [19-118L]. Since Yuna allows you to put the chosen Forward at the bottom or top of its owner’s deck, you can combine her ability with cards like Mind Flayer [15-120H], Zidane [16-048H], or the out of element option of Lani [12-018H], to choose one of your opponent’s Forwards in play, put it on top of your opponent’s deck, and then steal it with the aforementioned cards! Remember that since you’re manipulating your opponent’s deck, you can use Yuna [19-118L] to your benefit to avoid an EX Burst on your next attack, or send a Forward to the bottom of their deck to decrease the likelihood of seeing it again.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to the newest Buy a Box Promo card? What are some potential combos I missed? Let me know at facebook.com/FinalFantasyTCG!

Next week, Kageyama-san will share a character who uses Warp in an exciting way to herald their return.

Until next time!
