Dawn of Heroes – Card of the Week Alisaie [20-086H] and Alphinaud [20-106R]

Artwork showing Alisaie

Hey everyone, Richelle here with the first of my three Dawn of Heroes Card of the Week articles! The FINAL FANTASY franchise features quite a few pairs of twins, from Palom and Porom, to Edgar and Sabin, and even Lann and Reynn. For this article I wanted to reveal the Pre-Release Promo Card, but because it’s one half of the Scions’ dynamic duo, I didn’t want to split them up… they’ve been through enough! Today we’re showing off Alisaie [20-086H] and Alphinaud [20-106R].

Let’s take a look!

Alisaie [20-086H] will also be the Pre-Release Promo Card, with the art from Alphinaud [20-106R] being used for the sleeves!

Alisaie [20-086H] is a 4 CP Lightning Forward with 5000 power from Category XIV with the job Scion of the Seventh Dawn. She has two auto abilities that read, “When Alisaie enters the field, choose 1 Job Scion of the Seventh Dawn Forward of cost 3 or less in your Break Zone. Play it onto the field.” and “When a Water Forward enters your field, choose 1 Forward opponent controls. Dull it. This effect will trigger only once per turn.” While Alphinaud [20-106R] is a 3 CP Water Forward with 6000 power from Category XIV with the job Scion of the Seventh Dawn. He has one auto ability that reads, “When Alphinaud enters the field, your opponent selects 1 dull Forward they control. Put it into the Break Zone.” as well as a Damage 3 abilities that gives Alphinaud +2000 power.

As you can see, together, the pair go together perfectly. When Alisaie enters, she can play Alphinaud from your Break Zone, stacking his auto ability and then her second auto ability. Alisaie will dull an opponent’s Forward, and then Alphinaud will force your opponent to put it in the Break Zone, giving you two Forwards while your opponent loses one that was most likely your choice!

The Leveilleur twins are best paired with their fellow Scions in Water and Lightning, meaning Thancred and Y’shtola are two of the best suited companions for the young heroes. Thancred [12-124L] will not only trigger Alisaie’s ability from being played himself, but you could potentially revive Alphinaud again to dull a forward and put it into the Break Zone. Y’shtola [16-100L] likes to go wide with Scions, so all of the above cards are perfect for her gameplan. Lastly, while not officially a Scion herself, I’d like to mention The Oracle of Light [13-138S], as she’s buff each of the others by +2000 power, and her auto ability to revive a Scion plays into Alisaie and Thancred’s strategies. There may even be more cards in the set that play well with this group, but I’ll leave those for other reveals.

So, what do you think? Will this bring the Scions of the Seventh Dawn back as a competitive force to be reckoned with? I for one am really excited to collect and play with these and the other characters from FINAL FANTASY XIV: ENDWALKER in Dawn of Heroes! Let us know on https://www.facebook.com/fftcgeurope!

Next week, Kageyama-san is showing off a popular character that longtime Card of the Week readers might be surprised I didn’t choose this set.

Until next time!
