Beyond Destiny - Card of the Week - Warrior of Light [21-121L]

Card featuring Warrior of Light

Hello everyone. This is Tarou Kageyama, the producer of FFTCG and this is already the third card in our Card of The Week series for the booster pack "Beyond Destiny", which will release on November 17. The card introduced here is Warrior of Light, the very first protagonist of the FINAL FANTASY series.

Since Warrior of Light [19-128L] is very active in the current tournament scene, some may wonder if a card with the same name can be equally utilized. However, the upcoming Warrior of Light [21-121L] has special abilities that have the potential to become the core concept in certain decks, as I mentioned at the end of last week's article. So, let's take a look at the card!

Warrior of Light [21-121L] is a Light element Forward with a cost of 7 CP, a power of 9000, and Job Warrior of Light. He has two abilities. One is an auto ability that activates when it enters the field, and the other is "Ultimate Shield," a very easy-to-use special ability that costs only one card of the same name. Let's take a look at the contents in order.

For the auto ability, it reads, “When Warrior of Light enters the field due to your cast, reveal the top 5 cards of your deck. Play up to 2 Characters of cost 3 among them onto the field and return the other cards to the bottom of your deck in any order.” It is rather common to have an auto ability to add one of the revealed cards to the hand, but this card can put up to two of them directly onto the field. Furthermore, it is not limited to Forwards, but boasts the unparalleled power of being able to play a character. Although it can only be fielded by a cast, and the characters that can be played are limited to just those with a cost of 3, the fact that up to 3 more characters can be played for 7 CP will be astounding to opponents. Moreover, if you can use this ability to field a character such a Larkeicus [19-112C], Chelinka [20-049R], or Yuri [20-060R], who can also field another character when they enter the field, then the potential for new developments is further increased.

On the other hand, the special ability "Ultimate Shield" is, as the name suggests, a defensive ability, which means that this Warrior of Light and any cost 3 Forward you control will not be chosen by your opponent's Summons or abilities until the end of the turn. It is very useful in protecting your Forward from various Summons and abilities by simply discarding one card of the same name. Your opponents will be forced to be wary of this ability, and it will be difficult to have their deck realize its full potential.

Now, both of these abilities have a "cost of 3 CP" involved. In other words, a character with a cost of less than 3 CP cannot benefit from Warrior of Light [21-121L]. You can greatly power up your "Cost 3 Deck" with Akstar [18-107H] as the core, focusing on cost 3 Forwards, or you can use Onion Knight [18-125H], Faris [18-012L], Refia [19-102L] and many other strong characters with a cost of 3 CP and gather them into a "Warrior of Light" deck. Or, perhaps, a new deck with even sharper moves may emerge. We hope you will give this card a chance to thrive in your own decks.

Next week, I would like to introduce you to one of the Warriors of Light. Unfortunately, it is not a cost 3 card, but it is certainly appealing. Please stay tuned!
