Announcement from the Producer – New Banned Cards (Effective August 12, 2022)

FFTCG card backs

Thank you for playing FFTCG. This is Tarou Kageyama, the Producer.

I would like to announce that we will be instituting new banned cards in three formats with the release of the new booster pack “Rebellion’s Call” on August 12. This is a measure to rectify the environment by banning cards that have a significant impact on the current tournament environment. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause players.

Please see below for the details of the banned cards and the reasons behind this.

Furthermore, please note that the cards being banned can continue to be used as part of the single-title composition and limited matches as they were before.

  • Designation: Standard

The following card is banned in the standard format. Not even a single copy of the card may be included in the deck.

[14-116H] Machérie

  • Designation: L6 Composition

The following cards are banned in the L6 composition format. Not even a single copy of the card may be included in the deck.

[14-116H] Machérie

[16-065C] Amber

  • Designation: L3 Composition

The following card is banned in the L3 composition format. Not even a single copy of the card may be included in the deck.

[16-065C] Amber

  • Date of Enactment

Friday, August 12, 2022

  • Reason for Designation

[14-116H] Machérie

Aside from the sheer power of the card, it has a non-negligible impact on the balance of EX Bursts, so we have determined that the card has too much influence, not only on deck construction, but also on the game content.

[16-065C] Amber

We have determined that the “Morze’s Soiree” deck has become significantly stronger relative to other decks in the L3 and L6 composition format. We arrived at the decision to ban [16-065C] Amber, a search card, as a solution to reduce the power of the “Morze’s Soiree” deck to allow more types of decks to come into play.

Additionally, we will be paying particular attention to the following cards as cards that could distort the balance of the tournament scene in the future:

[12-097H] Syldra

[14-042L] Bismarck, Lord of the Mists

Once again, I deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused to everyone whenever cards are banned. Thank you for your support of FFTCG and I hope you continue to enjoy playing the game.
